UNDERSTANDABLY, there is anxiety in the country over what the next line of action by the dreaded members of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta (MEND) would be, following the out of the blue arrest, Monday, September 3, at the Luanda Airport, Angola of the spokesman of the militant group, whose real name is Henry Okah, although, he operated with the nom de plume, Jomo Gbomo, over the years to bamboozle security agents.
Port Harcourt — The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has denied carrying out Thursday's attack on Saipem, an Italian oil service company during which a Colombian was killed and two other expatriates and a Nigerian kidnapped.
Port Harcourt — A COLOMBIAN was feared dead yesterday while four other expatriate oil workers were kidnapped by militants who stormed Saipem Nigeria Limited, Rumuolumeni, off Iwofe Road in Rivers State.
The gunmen arrived the facility through the waterways. Once they anchored their boat, they started shooting. It was not immediately clear if the Columbian died from a stray bullet.
