Port — The State Security Services in Port Harcourt, Rivers State have arrested three people over the kidnap of five year old Divine Ifeanyi Emeruwa and who are also believed to be behind the kidnap of the Ehilemes. They have also threatened to arrest the Chairman of Peace and Reconciliation Committee on the Niger Delta, Senator David Brigidi and any member of the Committee involved in the release of the Saipem expatriate hostages for allegedly arranging with militants for the release without the knowledge of any of the Security agencies.

Lagos — A SENATE delegation led by the Senate President, Chief David Mark, yesterday visited Oporoza, a creek community in Delta State, riding in a light plane. Another Senate delegation also visited some creeks in Bayelsa under tight security.

Lagos — Residents of waterfront villages around Nigeria's oil capital Port Harcourt are relieved as a plan to demolish their homes has been shelved following the removal of the state governor on 26 October. "The former governor did not have the interest of poor people at heart," said Peters Ibinabo, a resident of Bundu, one of 25 waterside villages slated for demolition.

Yenagoa — The four Nigerians and three expatriate oil workers who were kidnapped weekend at the EA oil field, a Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) facility at Amatu in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have been released less than 48hours after their abduction.

Yenagoa — Barely 24 hours after kidnapping seven oil workers from their work location on the Atlantic Ocean, the militant group, Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), yesterday released the men to officials of the Bayelsa State government.

Warri — No fewer than 300 militants, armed with sub-machine guns, explosives and other sophisticated guns, and moving in about 30 speedboats, Saturday night, invaded the EA oil field, a Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) facility at Amatu, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, overpowered the military men watching over and abducted four Nigerian and three expatriate oil workers - an American, Croatian and a Russian.

Lagos — After what seemed like a lull, armed militants believed to be members of the dreaded Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) have launched an attack on a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel belonging to Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) at EA field, off the shore of Bayelsa State.

Yenagoa — SEVEN oil workers comprising three expatriates and four Nigerians were kidnapped by gunmen weekend at a Shell platform in Ekeremor local government area of Bayelsa State. The militants reportedly engaged troops guarding the offshore oil facility in gunbattle for at least three hours before taking their victims hostage. One civilian was injured.

The Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta, MEND says it will extend its bombing campaigns beyond the creeks of the region to other parts of the country if the Federal Government "accedes to the military's request to raid militant camps" in the Niger Delta.
