Yenagoa — The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) in Bayelsa State has threatened to destroy oil pipelines in the state and called on construction giant, Daewoo Nigeria limited and other companies operating in the state to leave in their own interest.

One of the major militant groups in the Niger Delta, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta {MEND} which has claimed responsibility for the series of attacks on Royal Dutch Shell facilities in the Niger Delta yesterday denied any involvement in the hijack Tuesday night of a supply vessel operated by the American oil giant Chevron.

Port Harcourt — An unknown group of gunmen on Tuesday night seized a Chevron oil supply vessel, Lourdes Tide, with 11 crew on board.
Among the crew aboard the vessel were Ukrainian and a Portuguese. The rest were said to be Nigerians.
Lagos — GUNMEN, Tuesday, seized a vessel and its 11 passengers, nine of whom are Nigerians. The other two are a Portuguese and a Ukranian. The gunmen are demanding a ransom of N30 million for the release of the hostages.

Abuja — Royal Dutch Shell has concluded repairs on two of the four Bonny Light oil facilities damaged by militant attacks, LEADERSHIP learnt yesterday.
Shell Nigeria's largest oil producer, had shut down four of its Bonny Light oil facilities following attacks by the regions major militant group, Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND),this amounted to shutting down about 164,000 bpd of Bonny Light crude production.
Lagos — LEADER of the Movement for Emancipation of the Niger-Delta (MEND) in Bayelsa State, popularly known as General Boylouf has turned a new leaf, promising to put an end to hostage taking in the state.
General Boylouf who confirmed his new position in a chat with Vanguard on phone said hostage taking and other criminal activities by militants were denying the state of the much-needed development, as investors run, rather than put their money into the building of industries and other infrastructural projects that will touch the life of the people of the state.
