The trial of leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) Henry Okah scheduled to resume on November 21 has now been shifted to December 4. The resumed trial would have assessed the state of his health following the approval of the court presided over by Justice Stephen Adah to undergo medical examination to assess the state of his health.

Daily Independent (Lagos) On Tuesday, the General Court Martial (GCM) in Kaduna sentenced to life imprisonment Major Suleiman Alabi Akubo and five other soldiers for selling arms to the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).

Kaduna — Six soldiers, among them a Major, were yesterday sentenced to life imprisonment by a General Court Martial (GCM) sitting at the Officer's Mess, One Division, Kaduna, for illegally dealing in arms. Two others, Corporals Kola David and Aliyu Mohammed, charged alongside the six, were demoted to the rank of private.

Leadership (Abuja) Abuja — A ten-man military court martial headed by Brig-Gen. Bala Usara, yesterday in Kaduna, sentenced Major Sulaiman Alabi Akubo and five other soldiers to life imprisonment for illegally selling arms worth over N100 million to Niger Delta militants.
