Daily Independent (Lagos)Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) Limited on Tuesday reported of a fire incident at its Bomu Well 44 located in Ogoniland in Rivers State. According to the company's spokesman, Precious Okolobo, the fire, which affected one of its dormant wells in the area, began in the evening of last Monday.

This Day (Lagos)Port Harcourt - Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has threatened an all out oil war in the next few weeks for what it called government display of insincerity over its promises to peacefully resolve issues that led to the Niger Delta crisis.

Vanguard (Lagos)The Joint Task force has arrested two prominent Bayelsans over their involvement in the Christmas day attack on the Tebidaba flow station belonging to the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) in which some lives were lost. Though the JTF had linked the Christmas day attack to the Movement for Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) which the latter had since denied but informed sources told Vanguard that the attack was actually carried out by some community youths for their selfish interest with a view to compelling the Italian oil giant to settle them for the yuletide celebrations.

Vanguard (Lagos)Niger Delta - MOVEMENT for Emancipation of the Niger-Delta (MEND), yesterday, told the Minister of State for Niger-Delta, Elder Godsday Orubebe, who has requested for a visit to some of its field commanders in the creeks that he is jeopardizing his life by embarking on such trips to militant camps when Henry Okah is still in captivity.
