Lagos - Nigeria's daily crude oil production has further increased with the acceptance by the Niger Delta militants of the Federal Government's amnesty , Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ojo Maduekwe, has said. Reuters quoted Maduekwe as saying at a press briefing at the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday night that: "The militants have accepted the amnesty and are surrendering."Now we need to fulfil our commitment that they are rehabilitated. A group, the Niger Delta Peace and Development Forum (NDPDF) has condemned the October 4 ultimatum given by the Federal Government to militants to surrender their arms or be declared enemies of the state. In a press statement signed by its president, Mr. Glory Okoghewe Abrefera,the group said the major pre-occupation of government in the region should have been massive provision of social amenities that will improve infrastructural development.

Yenagoa - A top militant leader and 1,000 fighters surrendered to the Nigerian government Saturday, turning in their weapons in the biggest handover since an amnesty began two weeks ago, but other fighters said attacks in the oilrich Delta region will resume next month regardless.

Port Harcourt - Leader of Niger Delta Volunteer Force, Mr. Ateke Tom, is set to submit his arms and tap into the amnesty programme of the President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, as he has collected 3,000 amnesty forms for documentation of his boys.
