Vanguard (Lagos)For some years now, the Niger Delta has been literally turned to a war zone as militants held the nation to ransom. From their various camps in the Niger Delta creeks, the militants who were armed to the teeth, destroyed vital oil installations and kidnapped expatriate oil worker, most of who have had to flee the country while many oil companies shot down operations in the area.

Vanguard (Lagos)Warri - NIGER-DELTA activist and Itsekiri youth leader, Comrade Omolubi Newuwumi, has advised that the Itsekiri and other ethnic nationalities in the Niger-Delta should not be ignored by the Federal Government in the on-going discussions with stakeholders, including ex-militant leaders on the post- amnesty programme and the peace process generally in the region.

Among the OPEC countries, Nigeria is the least enterprising in the management of oil revenue. In Africa, Libya, Angola and Sudan have utilised their oil revenue better than Nigeria.
